Quintana-Font creates new typeface families with a focus on creativity, cultural diversity, technology, and functionality. Their projects are inspired by diverse artistic and cultural expressions that provide them with conceptual, aesthetic, and social perspectives. They develop typographic and pictographic systems that can be continuously expanded. Whether it&#x27;s a long-term or short-term project, Quintana-Font uses the latest technology to streamline type production and allow more time for reflection and experimentation.

Typographer and Type designer born in Punta Arenas. His work focuses on type design, editorial and logo design. Founder and director of Quintana-Font Foundry. Since 2012 he is Professor of the Diploma in Typography at the P. Universidad Católica de Chile and Professor of Typography and Editorial Design Workshops at UNIACC (since 2023). Winner of the Amster-Coré prize for co-designing the book “Por la güeya del Matadero”. He has designed the following typefaces: Atalanta, Berenjena, Cordillera, Lira Sans, Loica Sans, Latinx Text (commissioned by Malba), Pregunta (commissioned by MilM2) Mazúrquica, Modérnica, and Violeta. He has co-published three volumes of “Cosas que se pueden hacer en este mundo” (Things that can be done in this world) and developed pictogram design projects such as Vivaceta and Mazúrquica Picto.

Berenjena possesses the ideal blend of readability and poetic flair, maintaining a delicate atmosphere that allows novels and tales to showcase their full charm. Unlike most book typefaces, Berenjena achieves this balance effortlessly, imbuing your design with a unique character. The letterforms of Berenjena link to the Neoclassical style of middle 18th century, in particular to the work of John Baskerville. However Berenjena is not an historical interpretation but an attempt to recreate Baskerville’s fine sense of politeness into a new, contemporary design that could built a more serene rhythm, flowing &amp; tender. It wears captivating details of calligraphic poetry which link subtlety to vernacular sign painting from Santiago de Chile. Berenjena was designed for text use bearing in mind this concept of subtle balance. Berenjena includes all the usual OpenType features plus several elegant ligatures, wonderful swashes, all sorts of figures, and more.

RunRun is an austere typeface family for handwritten style texts with a relaxed rhythm, consisting of three weights with subtly different thicknesses, also available as a Variable Font. Despite its casual look, RunRun was designed to work well in immersive reading texts, such as graphic novels, comic books, or children’s books, so it has an extensive glyph set that includes many typographic refinements, such as small caps, different figures, ligatures, and contextual alternates. Along with this, we added a set of face emojis to complement the applications and the mood of the typeface family. Run Run is the name given in Chile to Hymenops perspicillatus, a bird native to south-central South America; it is also the title of a popular song by Violeta Parra (Run Run se fue pa’l norte / Run Run went to the north), and the name of a children’s game using a button and wool that is spun by pulling it.
