With Marat Sans, Ludwig Übele returned to his original concept for Marat as a sans serif. Rather than simply decreasing the contrast and plucking off the serifs, though, he completely revisited the design to create compact, round letterforms that work well at larger sizes. With excellent legibility as his main focus, Übele increased the x-height and made the capitals narrower. This prodigious family includes many OpenType features: numeral variants, fractions, alternate glyphs, super- and subscripts, and robust language support. LudwigType, 2012.
