Duos may appear casual on the surface, but it’s a turbocharged machine under the hood. Multiple glyph forms and advanced OpenType features like ligatures and contextual alternates programmatically introduce the spontaneity of handwriting into typesetting. Duos comes in three weights (Light, Regular, and Black) and four styles that correspond to handwriting tools. The square stroke ending of Duos Sharp recall the broad-nib pen; Duos Round looks as though it has been produced with a felt-tip pen; Duos Brush adds detailed artifacts to the ends of strokes, much like a paintbrush running out of paint; and Duos Paint, available only in the Black weight, features a brush texture running the length of each stroke. An additional font, Duos Tools, contains tool icons, extra strokes, and banners. Uniquely, the family also includes polysemic characters—letters containing overdetermined shapes that lend themselves to various interpretations. Underware, 2017.
