Ilya Ruderman
Ilya Ruderman lives and works in Moscow. In 2002, he graduated from the Moscow State University of the Printing Arts, where he did his graduation project under the supervision of Alexander Tarbeev. He also obtained an MA in Type and Media from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in 2005. After completing that program, Ruderman returned to Moscow, where he collaborated on a number of publications: Kommersant, Afisha, Moskovskiye Novosti, Bolshoi Gorod, and Men’s Health Russia. From 2005–2007, he art directed Afisha’s city guidebooks, and later served as art director for RIA-Novosti, a news agency, for several years. Since 2007, he has supervised the curriculum in type and typography at the British Higher School of Art and Design in Moscow. He has been internationally active as a consultant on Cyrillic since 2008. In 2014, Ruderman founded CSTM Fonts with Yury Ostromentsky.
His typefaces include BigCity Grotesque Pro, Kazimir, Permian (a typeface for the city of Perm) and Cyrillic versions of Austin, Dala Floda, Graphik, Marlene, Moscow Sans (as a consultant), Typonine Sans, and Thema.
