TYPO Labs, the type and technology conference, will hold its second edition in Berlin next week. Marina Chaccur is one of the facilitators for the event, and David Berlow will take part in a panel on the business of OpenType variable fonts.

Next week, the second edition of the TYPO Labs conference in Berlin will welcome typeface designers, font technicians, and type enthusiasts from all over the world. Under the banner New Dimensions in Type Engineering, this immersive summit will run for three days in the silent green cultural venue in Berlin’s Wedding district. Developers, academics, and leading engineers and practitioners from the digital type industry pack the speaker lineup. The program offers presentations, industry discussion panels, classrooms, peer learning, and countless networking opportunities. Because the purpose of the conference is advancing the newest type development technologies, facilitating their adoption in the industry, and encouraging their integration into future digital communication, a good number of the talks will shine a light on font variations.
Type Network’s Marina Chaccur is one of the facilitators for the event, together with independent typeface designer Liron Lavi Turkenich. Type Network director and Font Bureau cofounder David Berlow will take part in the panel discussion Business Opportunities and Challenges in Bringing Variable OpenType Fonts to the Market, sharing the table with Adobe Typekit’s Matthew Rechs, FontLab’s Adam Twardoch, Monotype’s Ivo Gabrowitsch, and ParaType’s Alexandra Korolkova.
