Ant-Man and The Wasp © 2018 Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Art Machine continues the recent trend of dynamic diagonal stripes to great effect.

Their collaboration with LA demonstrates that an illustrated interpretation always looks more coherent than a similar Photoshop composition.

Hereditary © 2018 A24. Gravillis, In. eschews horror clichés by showing an Escherian distortion of the protagonists’ home, and using a Scotch Roman like Miller instead of the obligatory distressed Trajan capitals; see Canto for a nice alternative to tired Trajan. Farnham Headline is a more incised option.

Our House © 2018 IFC Midnight. The Refinery also stayed far away from horror-movie tropes, with a skyline face cropping up inside a ghostly apparition. Titling Gothic FB Skyline is just as narrow; Empire adds stylish contrast to the skyline model.

La nuit a dévoré le monde (The Night Eats the World) © 2018 Haut et Court Distribution. The upside-down image of the person falling upward towards the Paris cityscape, veiled in bluish mist, is quite spectacular—but nothing lets on that this French domestic poster is promoting a zombie movie.

The international one-sheet remedies this omission by adding a terrifying bouquet of zombie arms, contorted fingers grasping at the falling figure, and switching to a harsh red-and-black color scheme. The type also packs more of a punch: a bold, economic sans serif similar to Parka.

Sicario: Day of the Soldado © 2018 Columbia Pictures. LA amalgamated visuals from the movie to create a Día de los Muertos-like skull. Ironmonger’s faceted features serve the design well.

Agency FB’s square shapes make it a solid alternative.

McQueen © 2018 Bleecker Street Media. By foregrounding the Vanitas Skull Scarf, a design by Gary James McQueen (the late fashion designer’s nephew), The Posterhouse created the second poster this month featuring a decorated skull on a black background.

Christian Audigier the Vif © 2017 Gravitas Ventures. The colorful intensity of the tattoos and the pose speak volumes in this gripping depiction of the dying fashion designer.

Skyscraper © 2018 Universal Pictures. Main star Dwayne Johnson said he made a movie that pays homage to films that inspired him (and his generation) with grit, guts, and heart—Die Hard, The Towering Inferno, and The Fugitive. A couple of posters reference these sources of inspiration.

Die Hard © 1988 Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation. The previous one-sheet is modeled after this iconic Die Hard poster. Skyscraper uses Agency FB; Die Hard sports Gill Sans. New Atten and Upgrade would have been excellent alternatives.

This second Skyscraper poster pays tribute to the 1974 disaster flick The Towering Inferno.
