The resurgence of Blackletter
Banger
Banger is a thorny, prickly, and potentially explosive blackletter. A lively and energetic typeface that works great for anything that needs a little extra bang. Loosely inspired by decorative blackletters and metal album lettering. Banger is the result of searching for new textures in type and exploring unique methods of making. The typeface avoids straight lines like the devil, and is shaped to be a charming and friendly and readable display face.
Manic Type is an independent type foundry that focuses on providing tactile typography for textural fanatics.
Taull
Taüll is inspired by ancient blacklettering, designed to bridge the medieval world with our modern digital smart cities. This southern-flavored typeface transports us to the heart of the Pyrenees mountains, evoking images of tiny villages, Romanesque churches, old huts, and dark forests filled with dragons and princesses.
Barcelona-based Typerepublic blends contemporary views with Spanish local history to create veratile multi-script typefaces.
Fakir
Fakir is a contemporary blackletter which comes in 10 styles. While Blackletters are generally best for short display usage, half of Fakir—Fakir Text—is designed for long texts in small sizes, with a rather conventional regular weight. Together, the 10 styles offer a beautifully blocky blackletter for a variety of uses.
Zealotry wouldn’t be an inappropriate collective noun for Underware. They not only design typefaces, they live type—and they want others to do the same.
Leather
Leather is a digitization and major expansion of Imre Reiner’s forgotten but excellent 1933 Gotika design, which was way ahead of its time. In the twentieth century, the design saw very little use because it caused problems for printers, as the thin serifs and inner bars were too fragile and broke off too easily when used in metal. Not a problem for screens, though! A benefit of our modern world is the ability to finally enjoy Leather’s timeless design.

Cloisterfuch
Cloisterfuch is a chunky, striking blackletter that takes the varying pen angles and waisted strokes found in calligraphic scripts and pushes them to the extreme. The result is an exaggerated, blocky face with personality... best viewed large!
