Fakir and Liza, two of Underware’s most expressive families, launch on Type Network.

Fakir and Liza represent some of what we love most about our friends Akiem, Bas, and Sami of Underware. Upon their original release, both showcased the trio’s eagerness to push the concept of what a type family can be and explored relatively fresh areas of the design spectrum. Now on Type Network and just as fresh, they’re prime to bring an unexpected tone to your next project. How will you use them?
Fakir is Underware’s unique take on a blackletter, offering two optical sizes for both text and display use in 10 styles. For dramatic, punchy headlines, try Fakir Display Black Condensed. The family also includes an extra set of fleurons, hands, banners, and more—72 ornaments in all for extra spice.
Liza is what Underware calls a “live-script typeface”, approaching human lettering by hand as closely as technically possible. Like Fakir, Liza offers text and display styles, though they’re not defined by the traditional characteristics of optical sizes. Though both can be mixed together in a single headline, the Display is more playful while the Text is more settled, but both include separate ornaments for loads of special love.
