Matthew Rechs is leaving Type Network
Matthew Rechs has announced his resignation as CEO of Type Network, effective 15 August 2024.
Rechs previously was head of Adobe Fonts, joining the group after the 2011 acquisition
of Typekit, an early leader in web fonts.
Rechs came to Type Network as a consultant, planning several strategic initiatives for the company, streamlining font licenses, and bringing new foundries (type design studios) to the library, “More than 40 great foundries have joined us since Matthew started,” said Kate Beckwith, TN’s operations director. Rechs was appointed CEO at the end of 2023.
“It was an honor and a real education to work closely with so many great type designers and their colleagues,” said Rechs. “I enjoyed helping TN staffers redefine their work around a new plan for the company, focusing on the best fonts—and the best designers
—in the world.”
“The initiatives started by Matthew have taken on momentum,” said Roger Black,
chair of Type Network. “With a great team, we’re looking to implement his new products and to continue in the strategic direction he developed with energy and clarity.”
Type Network now represents 83 type foundries and their designers for font sales and for typographic consulting.
