Blancoletters is an independent type foundry based in the Basque Country (Spain), specializing in high-quality retail and custom type design. Founded by graphic designer, calligrapher, and typeface designer Juan Luis Blanco, the foundry bridges historical research and contemporary digital typography.
Driven by a deep commitment to both cultural heritage and typographic innovation, Blancoletters focuses its work on two main areas: multi-script family design—harmonizing Latin, Arabic, Tifinagh, Greek, and Cyrillic writing systems—and the contemporary reinterpretation of Basque graphic heritage. Alongside independent retail releases and custom commissions, the foundry collaborates on major international type design projects, including contributions to award-winning systems such as Google Sans Flex or the Typographic Matchmaking in the Maghrib.
