She also collaborates with a range of organizations as a designer/developer. Marie holds an MFA in Graphic Design from RISD and a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Chicago. She packs lunch every day.</p>

<p data-block-key="15q7i">Carp is Marie Otsuka’s streamlined take on the humanist sans-serif genre inspired by Excoffon’s Antique Olive, where the tops are heavier than the bottom parts of the letter. In Carp, this asymmetric weight balance is exaggerated in the heavier styles, while the lighter styles lean toward a more functional monolinear sans. Complete with a variable width axis, the result is a versatile family suitable for both expressive display and robust body text.</p>
