Jon Young is a designer and web developer based in Pittsburgh, PA. His passion for typography was ignited at the Graphic Design program at American University in Washington DC. He is a graduate of the TypeParis class of 2017, and in 2022 started running the legendary GarageFonts type foundry.He has built web applications for the CakeType and GarageFonts type foundries, and published his first typeface Fuqua in 2022, a project initiated at TypeParis and inspired by his hometown of Pittsburgh. Jon is a dedicated and inquisitive designer using a human-centered approach to design and build intuitive and compelling products, working with a diverse client base including design agencies, museums, type foundries, and large universities.As the proprietor of GarageFonts, Jon aims to continue its founding mission of supplying designers with innovative and expressive tools, creating brand new fonts and dusting off old classics for release into the wild and wonderful typographic ecosystem.

Fuqua is a slab serif family that is solid and sturdy, yet warm and friendly. A contemporary slab with wide, full forms and weighty foundations. It was inspired by both the grit and geometry of steel factory machinery from the late 19th century and the approachable vibe of Pittsburghers. Available in 20 styles and 2 variable fonts, Fuqua was initiated at TypeParis in 2017 and named after John “Frenchy” Fuqua, a legendary Steeler.
