Jan Fromm

Jan Fromm, a communication design graduate from the University of Applied Sciences in Potsdam, honed his skills in graphic and type design. A pivotal influence on his passion for lettering was Luc(as) de Groot. During his student years, Jan interned at LucasFonts, contributing to the font library’s expansion and working on client projects. Simultaneously, he began developing his own typefaces and distributing them independently. Additionally, he freelanced, creating logos and building websites. He thrives on intriguing type-related projects.

In his view, type is a fundamental element of any graphical work. It serves as the foundation of visual communication, conveying information and emotions. Jan’s ambition is to create type that works, whether through letter design or its practical application.

Complexity is not his forte. He prefers clarity and simplification, reducing elements to their essentials. Simplicity aids him in structuring his work and meticulously attending to details. It’s the harmonious convergence of these seemingly insignificant elements that forms a high-quality whole.
