Founder of Manic Type, Jamie Chang is a seasoned type designer and letterer based in Toronto, Canada. Jamie’s work delves into expressive typography, and its textural intricacies. A graduate of Type@Cooper and holding an MA TypeMedia from The Royal Academy of Art in the Hague. He now teaches at the Ontario College of Art and Design. He has spent years working on his independent practice designing typefaces and working for Canada Type and The Northern Block.

AdGothic is a variable width typeface inspired by Advertisers Gothic (Robert Wiebking, 1917). Featuring its distinctive short descenders, and quirky ‘g’. AdGothic brings the bold and impactful Advertisers Gothic to the new age.

Sudz is a graffiti and bubble-letter inspired colour font. Built from winding and looping strokes that create a dynamic and hypnotic texture.

Tumba is a mishmash of uncial and fraktur calligraphy influences. It combines specific details from each of its origins, to create a contemporary yet medieval typeface. Suited for beer halls and bedtime story books. Or a beer hall inspired bedtime story book (for those of a suitable age of course!). The best of both worlds!
