When the Ubuntu operating system, favored by developers around the world, wanted to upgrade their UI and brand typeface—also named Ubuntu—into a variable font, they asked Type Network to ensure its technical and functional quality. Partners DJR and Dual Type were up to the task.
What is the TN Type Report?
The TN Type Report is a new, free, annual publication put together by Type Network. It has two goals:
- Find and share answers to the most important questions in our industry, across type users, purchasers, and designers,
- Help elevate and communicate the value of good, high-quality type.
Type Network will publish all of the results of this survey in the coming months, offering useful insights into what fonts people like to use, where they find them, where tastes are evolving, and much more.
Who should take the survey?
The survey contains three distinct sets of questions:
Type users: If you are a graphic designer, web designer, identity designer or any other kind of creative who uses fonts, we want to hear your preferences, ideas, and opinions.
Type purchasers: If you are a purchasing or licensing agent, your insights are important. We want to hear how you make decisions and what matters to you.
Type designers: Whether you are a TN foundry partner or not, we want to know what you think about VFs, pricing, licensing, and more.
Why should I fill it out?
To encourage participation in the survey, those who complete the survey will receive a 15% discount code for use on the Type Network store*.
More importantly, those who fill out the survey are letting their voice be heard and will have their opinions and insights included in the TN Type Report. It is a way to contribute to the broader typographic landscape in a meaningful way.
